Job Description

Project Manager

Join IKEA as a Project Manager and play a key role in the transformation of IKEA Sørlandet. This is a temporary project assignment based at IKEA Sørlandet in Kristiansand, Norway. The project runs from September 2026 until mid-June 2027, with an expected start date as soon as possible.

A unique opportunity to shape the future of IKEA Sørlandet

IKEA Sørlandet is embarking on a major transformation journey. We are redesigning the store from a two-floor layout into a more accessible, customer-focused, single-level shopping experience built for future growth.

To lead this journey, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager (Build-up Leader) who can turn plans into reality, navigate a complex stakeholder landscape, and inspire teams to deliver outstanding results.

This is not just a construction or fit-out project. It's a business transformation that will impact customers, co-workers, partners, and operations every day. Throughout the project, the store will remain fully operational, making careful planning, collaboration, and communication critical to success.

Your mission

As Project Manager, you will lead the implementation and commercial build-up of the IKEA Sørlandet transformation project, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the build-up and implementation activities across all project phases.
  • Develop and drive detailed project plans, phasing plans, timelines, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Ensure effective cost control, forecasting, and financial follow-up throughout the project.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, contractors, and service providers to ensure timely delivery and execution.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, change requests, and re-phasing while maintaining project momentum.
  • Drive commercial readiness and operational preparedness before handover.

Requirements

  • You possess strong project management skills with responsibility for complex projects from planning through implementation.
  • You have strong cost management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial follow-up.
  • You have extensive experience leading teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors.
  • You have experience from retail, construction, fit-out, infrastructure, facilities, or similar project environments.
  • You demonstrate excellent planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
